WHY MEGANTIC

The website was named ‘Megantic’ after the SS Megantic, also known as the RMS Megantic (Royal Mail Ship). It´s regular Atlantic route was between Liverpool, Montreal and New York.

GERMAN U-BOAT

On 24th Aprl 1917 Megantic was attacked by German U-Boat UB-43 but the attack failed. In 1919 she resumed her regular Liverpool to Montreal later re-routed to the London – Halifax – New York service. She completed her days on the Liverpool Montreal service as she had started.

Michael is the owner of this website. Michael’s Grandfather was Captains Steward on the SS Megantic. He died on board and was buried at sea.

 SS Megantic

SS Megantic was also the ship on which Dr Hawley Harvey Crippen was brought back in 1910 to face trial for the murder of his wife. He had fled with his mistress who was dressed as a Cabin Boy to Canada but was arrested before he could land. Dr Crippen was found guilty and hanged.

The significance of this arrest is that he was the first criminal to be captured with the aid of the then new wireless communication. The irony being that this goes from the very beginnings of wireless communication to the present day with some of the businesses that Michael is involved with. These have the very latest in advanced communications and technology.

Michael is the owner of this website and a Network Marketing Consultant in Direct Sales and Marketing.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Employment Relations from a leading UK University and also a Post Graduate Research Diploma in Job Satisfaction and Motivation.

He has and is involved with various charitable organizations and has given talks to various groups both professionally and socially. He has also represented UK Counties in sporting activities as well as representing the UK abroad in both a sporting and professional capacity.
